These paintings were done during the second Coronavirus lockdown in the UK. Feelings of isolation, attraction, repulsion and the surreal nature of the pandemic play out on the canvas.
The imagery is taken from the iconic Thames Barrier and Tate & Lyle refinery on the River Thames at Woolwich, London. These structures are next to my studio complex and dominated my imagination as I walked along the embankment.
The forms and colours embody the thoughts and processes I was going through at this time but perhaps resonate in the primeval, unconscious mind of the collective.
